How do i grow my hair long?

My hair is short and layered now. It's short on top, about 3 inches, but the bottom is kind of long, quite past the bottom of a collar. I'd like to know how to grow it out nicely without it looking like a piece of ****. Please help? Like what do i tell the hairdresser? To cut the bottom only but let the top grow? Or do i tell the hairdresser i wanna grow it long? Helpz please. thankzzz

get a great conditioner i use sun silk . whenever you have split ends have your hair trimmed it worked for me . it makes it grow faster when you have good conditioned hair and have it trimed reguarly.
