Short cuts for curly hair?

I have EXTREMELY curly hair...it doesn't straighten, even with ceramic straighteners, straighning shampoo, etc. Right now it's so long, that with it in ringlets, it reaches to the bottom or my shoulder blades, or when I pull a piece straight, it's 3/4 way down my back. I DESPERATELY need to get it cut, but I can't decide how I want it...it needs to be long enough to pull back in a pony tail (I play a lot of sports) but I want to get something pretty short...Any ideas on how to cut/style it?

i would say to get it cut short and in layers because if you cut it short and staright your hair will look like a triangle...yet cutting it in layers will even it out...

if you cut it short... you will probably be able to straighten it . trust me. my friend is like that you need a good straightener like teh chi.. but remeber when you cut it wet it will be shorter when dry.. soo no longer then chest length or shorter the shoulders you will miss your ahir and it will be a pain to tame

just go to a good stylist and ask for a good curly hair haircut, and tell her what you want. trust me, they know this stuff. i have naturally wavy hair and i wanted a haircut that would have needed me to straighten my hair everyday, but instead the stylist gave me a haircut that enhances my waves, which i'm very happy with. :)

yeah i had super long curly hair, and i just got mine cut about a 3 weeks ago....... i play tons of sports to, so i told my stylist it has to be able to be put in a pony tale........when she was done she cut my hair so it framed my face( when it was wet by the way) but when my hair was all dry....i looked like a mushroom, the back was long and the front was short. yeah i had my hair in a pony tail every day for the past 2 weeks.

So no matter what your do, make sure the front either blends into the back or its the same length. so u dont go thru the hair trama that i went thru. Good luck with your hair cut!

Lot's of people have or want curly hair. The best thing is to go to someone who you trust.

For you... I'm guessing you have thick hair. If you do, that's no problem as long as the stylist knows to cut with the curl instead of against it.

Also, have you thought about just putting your hair into a braid? Use product and do it when your hair is wet.
