Dust is not just pieces of dead skin! In fact, the composition varies from house to house, but in general, you might find textile fibers, decomposing insect parts, pet dander, human and animal hair, food leftovers, pollen grains, mold spores, bacteria, skin flakes, insulation, sand, and the most likely offender, the dust mite and its fecal material.

are you sure that they arent just bits of fibre off your clothes?

Skin and hair and toenails and a rhinoceros horn are all made from keratin. You might find it difficult to know what these small hairs come from unless you have a pathology lab. to help.
