Should i worry if my child cut off all the hair from her dolls and even a piece of mine?

I shaved the hair off a GI Joe when I was a lad.... I'm fairly normal now...lol... I never touched my moms hair...She was from the south...Willow tree in the backyard and all..Not a good idea. I wouldn't be worried. My concern would be why you allowed a child around your head...with scissors.. but then again that's another question

So far she's not Edward Scissorhands, it should be ok. Maybe she's fascinated by hair, there's even a name for that: trichophilia. In most cases such little interests just pass with time. Don't worry, it won't become neither her profession nor a paraphilia.

Isn't that why they have hair?

Well it all depends. How old is this child? Are there any signs of anxiety? Has she shown signs of fascination with hair before? Comments about hair? When did she go to the beauty shop if ever? It's no biggie really unless she is destructive in other ways.

My daughter cut off her widow's peak when she was a little girl because she didn't like it. One of my sisters cut the other sister's hair when they were 5 and 4 years old. The other day my grandaughter tried to cut a piece of her mother's hair and a chunk of her own (yep, window's peak child is now a mom). Kid's are fascinated with scissors and want to experiment with them. Fortunately, my grandaughter's scissors were plastic and won't cut much more than hot butter. Just put the scissors up high and give your little girl some safety scissors and lots of pretty paper. Even better, get some of those fancy edge scissors used in crafting. Tell her she can cut all the paper she wants, but nothing else. Tell her to make something pretty for you. That should take care of the hair cutting for awhile.

Isn't it fun being a mom?

No, your child is fine. I did the same thing to my dolls and to myself as well. Never my mom's hair though. I did chip her tooth with a glass cup when I was a baby and I stuck her hand into a fan while it was on when she was sleeping. I turned out okay though. kinda.

I could use a haircut myself (LOL). No I don't think you should worry about it. Kids do strange things sometimes.

i think kids do such things at this age so nothing to worry but its not good for her to have scissors in her hands

A lot of children go through that phase - nothing to worry about. But I would recommend keeping the scissors up!

Does your child display other signs of anger? How old is child? I'd be concerned.

That depends whether your child is a boy or a girl and the age also counts. It might be a phase but if it isnt just make sure they dont hurt anyone and live with it

Not to worry! That's how I became a cosmotologist.

how old is this child? sounds like to me they are not responsible enough to have scissors! take the scissors away from the child until they are at such an age that they can realize the right thing to do with them

Don't worry too much, but monitor your child with the scissors. My 6 year old recently cut his own hair, the hair from a wig in a dress up box, and part of his pants. He knows what scissors are for and how to use them responsibly. He was just being impulsive. When I asked him why he did it, he said he just wanted to see what they would cut. So, now the scissors are not in the art box and my boys have to ask to use them. Problem solved and now they are getting into other things, like markers on the fingernails....
