I have layers in my hair and it will not stay in a bun without a million pieces sticking out no matter what I do. I keep getting in trouble. Any suggestions?
Thank you!!!
Girls/military women - please help! My hair will NOT stay in a bun!?
I just got out of the military, and I have had layers in my hair for years. Here is what I did. It is easier to do if your hair is damp with gel in it. I would put my hair in a real tight low ponytail. Then you cut the toe out of one of your socks and roll it up to where it looks like a donut. Slip your ponytail thru the donut, and then pull the hair over to cover the donut all around it (kind of like how a fountain waterfall would look going over the donut. Make sure you cover the sock completely so that you cannot see it. Take another ponytain holder and gather all the hair at the base of the donut bun. Use a scrunchi (same color as your hair) to put over the bun you just created and tuck the ends under that scrunchi. You could also try a french braid with the end tucked up inside at the base of your neck, use bobbi pins and ponytail holders to secure it. I hope this helps. Good luck!

you could either just leave the bits sticking out and turn it into a messy bun. Or just try taking a few discreet hair slides or hairspray, or try a bigger and tighter hairband that might hold more hair. Alternitively get your hair cut to just one length.

you can take a little rubberband and get all your bangs, and if you really need to take a second rubberband, and do the second row. Then you can make your bun. Or can you use gel? But the first rubber band and the second rubber band must be aligned, like in a french baraid style...

Buy some bobby pins %26amp; hairspray. Clip all the layers nice and flat. Spray them well with a good aerosol or pump hair spray. Also, you can try some of the newer products from BedHead, Paul Mitchell, etc. Check out the African American hair care section, too...maybe try a pomade also. Don't use a lot of conditioner, as it can make hair even softer.

BZZZZZ CUT!!!
Think about getting it cut short and letting it grow in a style you can control or keep getting in trouble.

you should get one of tose little hairnet things that go around buns to keep that from happening.

I'm active duty right now. Try putting gel in it and pull it in a ponytail while its damp then tie it down for a while (til the gel dries) with a scarf or durag. Good luck
